About this product
Beaux Frères' estate pinot noir from the Ribbon Ridge AVA, the wine that defined this small, marine-sedimentary sub-appellation. Co-owned by Michael Etzel and his brother-in-law Robert Parker Jr., Beaux Frères (French for "brothers-in-law") became one of Oregon's most critically acclaimed estates in the 1990s. The Ribbon Ridge's exclusively Willakenzie soil — marine sedimentary with no volcanic component — gives the wine a distinctive earthy, savoury character: dark cherry fruit underlaid by forest floor and iron. Parker's involvement created early fame; the wine's quality has long since exceeded any celebrity association.

Beaux Frères's deep Burgundian character — earth, dried rose, forest floor — finds a natural mirror in the truffle and wild mushroom, with Parmesan amplifying the umami.

poultry
Guinea fowl is a game bird with lighter flavour than duck but more complexity than chicken — a natural partner for structured Pinot Noir. Black garlic's umami depth bridges with the wine's earthy secondary notes; chanterelles add a forest-floor bridge; grain mustard's acidity matches the wine's bright cherry component. Ribbon Ridge's silky tannin allows this pairing to flow without textural disruption.

Grouse is the most intensely flavoured game bird; it demands a Pinot of serious concentration. Beaux Frères' dark fruit weight and iron mineral note meets the bird's richness while the blackcurrant sauce bridges the wine's own deep fruit character.

dessert
Beaux Frères' iron mineral character bridges coffee's bitterness; dark fruit amplifies the hazelnut-chocolate combination. Only very powerful Pinot Noir qualifies here — this is not a pairing for light Pinot.

cheese
Beaux Frères's Burgundian depth and earthy intensity is one of the few Oregon Pinots that can genuinely partner washed-rind cheese; the wine's tannin cuts through Époisse's pungency while quince bridges the fruit.
