Earl Jones planted the first Abacela tempranillo in 1995 after exhaustive climate research convinced him that the Umpqua Valley matched Ribera del Duero's temperature profile. The Reserve, selected from the best barrels of each vintage, is a wine of genuine Iberian character: dark fruit, leather, spice, and a structural firmness that resolves beautifully after six to eight years.
