Allegrini La Grola Valpolicella Classico Superiore DOC

Valpolicella Classico DOC, Italy
The wine that transformed Valpolicella's reputation — La Grola single-vineyard, first released in 1979, proved the appellation could produce structured, age-worthy reds. Old-vine Corvina and Oseleta from the La Grola hillside above Fumane, aged 18 months in French barriques. Vibrant ruby; fresh cherry, amarena, violets, spice, and a distinctive mineral lift from the limestone soils. Excellent at 5–12 years.
complement
The great Veronese pairing — Corvina-based wine with Amarone-flavoured risotto creates a flavour echo; the wine's freshness cuts the risotto's rich, wine-soaked base.

The traditional Veronese Sunday lunch — Corvina's bright acidity and red fruit character cuts through braised beef's richness; polenta's mild creaminess provides the perfect foil.

complement
The wine's cherry-amarena character is the classic companion to Grana Padano's crystalline sharpness; balsamic bridges the wine's acidity to the cheese's sweetness; walnuts add textural depth.
