Antinori Badia a Passignano Chianti Classico Gran Selezione

Chianti Classico DOCG, Italy
Antinori's pinnacle Chianti Classico — single-estate 100% Sangiovese from the historic Badia a Passignano monastery estate (in Antinori ownership since 1987). Gran Selezione: minimum 30 months aging, single-vineyard or best-barrel selection. Aged in French barriques and Slavonian oak. Wild cherry, leather, dried rose, tobacco, and the distinctive iron-mineral of Sangiovese at full maturity. The counterargument to Super Tuscan: pure Sangiovese at its Chianti Classico finest.

Antinori Badia a Passignano Gran Selezione's concentrated Sangiovese structure — the high acidity and firm tannin of aged DOCG Chianti — meets its natural partner in wild boar ragù. The gaminess of wild boar is tamed by the wine's tannin, the pappardelle provides the pasta base, and Parmigiano's umami depth amplifies the wine's complex finish.
