Antonio Caggiano Macchia dei Goti Taurasi DOCG

Taurasi DOCG, Italy
The modern-style benchmark Taurasi — from the Macchia dei Goti vineyard at 550m on volcanic soils. Aged 18 months in French barriques (30% new) rather than large oak, producing a more polished but no less powerful Aglianico. Dark ruby; blackberry, black cherry, chocolate, violets, and a volcanic ash mineral note. Accessible earlier than traditional Taurasi but ages magnificently for 20+ years.
complement
The wine's concentrated dark fruit and firm structure matches the wild game intensity; Pecorino shavings and the pasta's richness absorb the wine's tannic power.

complement
Caggiano's polished Aglianico structure and dark fruit depth aligns with lamb's richness; the herb crust and olive tapenade add layers that harmonise with the wine's herbal-mineral character.
