Bartolo Mascarello Barolo

Barolo DOCG, Italy
Bartolo Mascarello's single Barolo is a deliberate cru blend from four historically significant parcels in La Morra (Ruè, San Lorenzo) and Barolo village (Cannubi, Rocche dell'Annunziata). The philosophy: Barolo is greater than any single vineyard. Ultra-traditional: extended maceration, large Slavonian oak, no barrique, no additions. Each label is a hand-painted artwork by Bartolo (and now Maria Teresa). Among Italy's most philosophically significant wines.

Fonduta's buttery, Fontina-based richness is one of the classic ways to tame Barolo's tannins; white truffle shavings elevate the pairing to rare territory

Bra Duro's austere, crystalline aged character is a Piedmontese mirror for Mascarello's Barolo; both require patience, reward it generously, and speak of the same territory

Finanziera (Turin's classic offal dish) has assertive flavours requiring an equally assertive wine. Bartolo Mascarello's traditional structure matches the dish's complexity; Nebbiolo's acid cuts through the richness.
