Bodegas Ángel El Angosto Calatayud

Calatayud, Spain
From a single parcel of pre-phylloxera ungrafted Garnacha vines — some over 120 years old — on limestone and granite terraces at nearly 1,000m altitude. The extreme age and altitude produce a Garnacha of extraordinary character: transparent ruby, intensely aromatic with dried raspberry, violet, orange peel, wild herbs, iron mineral, and an almost ethereal lightness that belies its depth. Fermented with indigenous yeasts in old wood, this is old-vine Garnacha at its most pure and expressive.
complement
The traditional Aragonese shepherd's dish with the region's ancient grape — a pairing of terroir and culture. The wine's earthy depth and red fruit complement the rustic migas and spiced chorizo.
