Typically 80–85% Cabernet Sauvignon with Merlot, Cabernet Franc, and Petit Verdot, the wine shows a distinctive style among the First Growths — powerful, opulent, and heady with the characteristic Pauillac notes of cedar, pencil shavings, cassis, and tobacco. The estate's deep gravel over iron-pan soils produce wines of extraordinary concentration that require 15–25 years of cellaring.
