Juan Gil Silver Label Monastrell Jumilla DO

Jumilla DO, Spain
From 70-year-old ungrafted Monastrell vines on Jumilla's calcareous limestone plateau at 750m. The wine is near-black in colour — the density of ancient vine concentration. The nose offers dark plum, black olive, dried thyme, and bittersweet chocolate from partial French oak ageing. The palate is massive but structured, with velvety tannins, remarkable concentration, and a finish of mineral-edged dark fruit that lasts over 45 seconds.

Old-vine Monastrell's dark fruit density and Mediterranean herb character are at home with Moorish-influenced braised lamb — a pairing rooted in Murcia's culinary history

Jumilla's biggest reds demand the richest preparations; braised ox cheek's gelatin-rich depth is matched by Monastrell's body and dark fruit
