Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Riesling
Rheingau, Germany
About this product
The global benchmark for dealcoholised wine — Johannes Leitz's Rheingau Riesling base wine, dealcoholised by spinning cone column (SCC) technology to below 0.5% ABV. The spinning cone column operates at low temperature under vacuum, preserving the volatile aromatic compounds (thiols, esters) that other dealcoholisation methods (heat distillation, reverse osmosis) destroy. Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Riesling retains the characteristic Riesling profile — slate mineral, citrus, petrol notes on aged wine — with a reduced body from the absent alcohol.

seafood
The citrus-mineral character of Leitz Riesling EZZ pairs with Dungeness crab in exactly the same way the alcoholic Riesling would — the acidity bridges the sweetness of the crab, the mineral character provides structure. The pairing logic is identical to the alcoholic version. The guest choosing non-alcoholic deserves this insight: the experience is genuinely equivalent to a Mosel Riesling with crab.

Asian
The high residual sweetness and acid of a dealcoholised Riesling moderates spice heat effectively — the sugar provides heat relief while the acidity refreshes. The lemongrass in the curry mirrors the lemongrass-citrus in the Leitz. No alcohol means no alcohol-heat amplification of the spice.
