Miani Friulano Colli Orientali del Friuli DOC

Friuli Colli Orientali DOC, Italy
Italy's most inaccessible and greatest white wine — Miani's Friulano from old-vine Colli Orientali parcels. Whole-cluster pressed; fermented with indigenous yeast in old barriques, aged 18 months on lees without racking. Pale gold; extraordinary complexity of almond, lemon confit, bitter herbs, white stone, and a mineral depth of geological precision. Drinks magnificently from 5 to 20 years. Production: ~500 bottles.
complement
Miani's almond-mineral depth and lemon-bitter complexity is the supreme companion for San Daniele prosciutto; the fig's sweetness bridges the wine's bitter finish; Frico cheese adds a Friulian regional counterpoint.

complement
The most luxurious Friulian pairing — Miani's mineral-almond complexity is the rare white wine with sufficient depth for white truffle; the simple butter sauce allows the wine and truffle to speak.

complement
The definitive Friulian cheese-and-wine pairing — Montasio's granular, crystalline depth matches Miani's mineral precision; walnut honey bridges the wine's bitter-almond character.
