Paul Cluver Close Encounter Chardonnay Elgin WO

Elgin Wine Region, South Africa
Flagship Chardonnay from Elgin estate; named for the 160 breeding pairs of Verreaux's eagle on the farm. Barrel fermented in French oak (30% new) with full lees stirring. White peach, citrus blossom, hazelnut, and fresh mineral length. Cool-climate restraint prevents over-oakiness; elegant and age-worthy for 5–8 years.
