Philosophy
Fenjiu Group produces the definitive light aroma (qingxiang) baijiu — a fundamentally different philosophy from the sauce and strong aroma styles. Using pure sorghum in ceramic pots (rather than earthen pits), Fenjiu's single-distillation method produces a clean, crisp spirit where grain character is maximally expressed without the microbial complexity of pit fermentation. This is baijiu at its most transparent.
Reputation
Fenjiu provides the clearest introduction to baijiu for Western guests: its light aroma (qingxiang) style, cleaner and less intense than sauce or strong aroma, bridges the gap between familiar spirits and the challenging complexity of Moutai or Wuliangye. Fenjiu's associated Zhuyeqing (bamboo leaf green, a herb-infused expression) has been produced since the Tang Dynasty and represents a remarkable historical continuity.
