Founded with British investment by Hugh Johnson, Royal Tokaj was a pioneer of the post-communist Tokaj revival, establishing the principle that classified cru vineyards could produce distinctly different Aszú wines reflecting their terroir.

Royal Tokaj's single-vineyard Aszú wines from First and Second Growth sites established the modern benchmark for how Tokaj's great terroirs could be communicated to international wine lovers.
