Moraitis Winery Paros
Philosophy
Family winery founded 1910 on Paros; oldest and largest wine producer on the island. Estate Mandilaria and Monemvasia from terraced plots on granitic and volcanic soil. Traditional Cycladic viticulture practices preserved; also produces the island's most successful white from Monemvasia (the Malvasia ancestor). Guardian of Paros wine culture.
Reputation
Moraitis is the reason Paros wine has survived as a distinct category; the winery's dedication to indigenous Mandilaria and Monemvasia has preserved wine traditions that could easily have been lost. A crucial cultural-viticultural institution for the Cyclades.
