Philosophy
Emidio Pepe, granddaughter Chiara Pepe; biodynamic estate since 1964 on Teramano clay-limestone soils. Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and Trebbiano d'Abruzzo from old vines; entirely hand-harvested, indigenous yeasts, no filtration or fining, ageing in large Slavonian oak for years then in bottle. Some wines not released for 10–15 years. A cult estate of extraordinary authenticity.
Reputation
Emidio Pepe is Abruzzo's most revered wine estate internationally; the wines are among Italy's most sought-after and age-worthy. Chiara Pepe continues her grandfather's legacy with the same biodynamic-artisanal approach. Decanting in the cellar from bottle to bottle by hand (re-corking) is the house's extraordinary tradition.
