Selvapiana
Philosophy
The reference producer for Chianti Rufina — the Giuntini-Antinori family (unrelated to the famous Marchese Antinori house) has farmed the Selvapiana estate since 1827. The estate's Vigneto Bucerchiale single-vineyard Riserva, first released in 1979, is considered one of Italy's finest Sangiovese expressions — a wine that ages for 30+ years from the high-altitude galestro-limestone soils.
Reputation
Selvapiana is consistently cited as one of Italy's greatest undervalued wine estates — Vigneto Bucerchiale Riserva has received 96-99 points from Wine Advocate, Tim Atkin, and Jancis Robinson. Robert Parker called it 'one of the world's great red wines at an absurdly low price'. The estate's commitment to traditional production (large Slavonian casks, no new oak, long maceration) has made it a benchmark for honest Sangiovese.
