Shannon Vineyards
Philosophy
Stuart and Nicole Botha established Shannon in 2001 on the highest-altitude vineyards in Elgin — at 400m, the estate's Sauvignon Blanc and Pinot Noir show the most pronounced cool-climate freshness in the ward. The flagship Mount Bullet Merlot-Cabernet Franc and Sanctuary Peak Sauvignon Blanc are consistently among Elgin's most critically acclaimed wines.
Reputation
Shannon Vineyards is considered Elgin's most exciting producer — the Sanctuary Peak Sauvignon Blanc received 95 points from Tim Atkin and is considered one of South Africa's finest Sauvignon Blancs. Mount Bullet has received 94-97 points for recent vintages. The estate's combination of altitude and maritime cooling creates wines of genuine international quality.
