Dorigo
Philosophy
Girolamo Dorigo was one of the pioneers of the Colli Orientali's revival — farming the Montsclapade estate since 1966, producing some of Friuli's earliest estate-bottled wines. The estate's Pignolo (a nearly extinct Friulian indigenous red variety) and Schioppettino are considered the finest expressions of these varieties available anywhere.
Reputation
Dorigo's Pignolo Vigneto Montsclapade is considered Italy's definitive Pignolo expression — a wine of extraordinary tannin, acidity, and complex dark fruit that ages for 20+ years. The estate's role in preserving near-extinct Friulian indigenous varieties has been recognised by Slow Food and international critics alike.
