Domaine Vico
Corsica, France
Philosophy
Native Corsican varieties at high altitude—Niellucciu, Sciaccarellu, Vermentinu—coaxed from schist and basalt soils marked by extreme thermal contrast. Concrete eggs and unfined, unfiltered bottling preserve terroir transparency: wines that marry alpine freshness with southern ripeness, each cuvée a crystalline expression of a singular place.
Reputation
Founded in 1901 by Jean Vico in the mountain village of Ponte-Leccia, this domaine occupies Corsica's sole significant vineyard inland from the coast, planted on schist and basalt at elevations between 260 and 360 metres. After decades of decline, the estate was acquired in 1987 by the Venturi family, who through meticulous regeneration and biodynamic conversion have restored it to prominence.
