Domaine de Triennes

Provence, France
Cool-night terroir shaped into wines of uncommon freshness and mineral purity. Rosé crafted by night harvest and direct pressing; whites pursue aromatic finesse without oak; reds marry elegance with structure, never excess. Winemaking unfolds without cosmetic intervention.
On the hillsides of the Var, thirty kilometres from the Mediterranean, Domaine de Triennes was discovered at the end of 1989 and renamed in honour of the Triennia—Roman bacchanalias held every three years in honour of Bacchus. Two legendary Burgundian winemakers, Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, along with Parisian friend Michel Macaux, purchased the property and began an ambitious program of terroir-driven transformation.
AllocationFounded date: multiple sources cite 1989 purchase; official website states production since 1990. Organic certification: Ecocert 2013 confirmed (began 2008 conversion). Discrepancy on biodynamic scope: Berry Bros. & Rudd reports St. Fleur Viognier as biodynamic-certified, but main estate is organic, not biodynamic. Succession: Jeremy Seysses (Jacques's son) confirmed as current director/operator; Jacques Seysses remains as principal owner/founder. US importer listed in ADVINTAGE distributor list (Provence section). IGP designation: sources split between IGP Var and IGP Méditerranée; IGP Méditerranée appears more commonly cited in recent listings. Minimal biographical data on Michel Macaux beyond 'Parisian friend'. Rémy Laugier confirmed as enologist since 1997. Production volume not disclosed in public sources. No Japan-specific importer identified in official importer list. | Importer overflow captured (importer_other): 'Bourgogne Wijnen (Belgium)' | Importer overflow captured (importer_other): 'Cuzziol Grandivini (Italy)' | Importer overflow captured (importer_other): 'Compass Wines (UK)'
