Domaine du Pélican

Jura, France
Burgundian precision applied to Jura terroir: meticulous biodynamic viticulture, light-touch cellar work emphasizing purity and minerality, topping-up (ouillé) method for non-oxidative whites alongside traditional vin jaune production. Minimal new oak, neutral or old oak exclusively.
Domaine du Pélican arose in 2012 from Guillaume d'Angerville's encounter with Jura's terroir at Le Taillevent in Paris, where he mistook Stéphane Tissot's Chardonnay for Burgundy. With his estate manager François Duvivier, d'Angerville acquired 15 hectares in Montigny-lès-Arsures and surrounding Arbois parcels—including the historic holdings of the late Jacques Puffeney—to marry Burgundian winemaking discipline with the region's mineral-driven identity.
AllocationOfficial website domainedupelican.fr confirmed (in French, with basic English options). Biodynamic certification timing: one source indicates conversion in 2015 with certification in 2017; multiple sources confirm biodynamic farming. Production volume estimated conservatively at ~500 bottles/year based on 15-hectare estate with minimalist 4-person bottling operations. Millesima (NYC) confirmed as primary US distributor; Verve Wine and Hart & Cru retail through them. UK presence strong via Corney & Barrow and Justerini & Brooks. Founded year 2012 well-documented (coincides with first vintage harvest). Parent company: Marquis d'Angerville (Volnay) is sister estate under same ownership, not a holding company. Succession status: Family-owned via d'Angerville family; no succession transition currently noted. No Japanese importer located despite searches. Small production volume reflects minimalist approach and tiny facility requiring rental of bottling equipment annually.
