Famille Paquet

France
Gravity flow through a modernized cellar enables extended élevage of 12–18 months; minimal intervention in the barrel and tank seeks the precise terroir expression of each lieu-dit across fifty individually managed plots. The approach retrieves character through patient observation of the vintage's demands.
Famille Paquet traces its roots to 1980, when Jocelyne and Michel Paquet founded Domaine des Valanges in the commune of Davayé, a village in the Mâconnais at the foot of the Solutré and Vergisson escarpments. The estate was renamed Famille Paquet in 2019, marking the formal consolidation of the three sons' ownership begun in 2016, and now commands 35 hectares across the legendary terroirs of Saint-Véran—"en Crèches," "les Cras," and "les Terres Noires"—alongside holdings in Pouilly-Fuissé and Mâcon.
AllocationChâteau designation requires 'en' instead of 'in' — confirmed from producer's own English-language site. Hectare count varies slightly across sources (30–36 hectares noted; using 35 from Bourgogne-wines official registry). Certification: sources confirm 2021 as first certified organic vintage; biodynamic conversion ongoing but not yet formally certified. Japanese market listed on Bourgogne-wines registry but no specific importer identified. Domaine des Valanges remains a legal entity name (SARL PAQUET MONTAGNAC BOURGOGNE per distribution page contact). Succession complete in 2016 with formal brand consolidation in 2019.
