Faust

United States
Cabernet Sauvignon of mineral-edged precision from ancient volcanic soils, cold-climate acidity preserved through careful harvesting and gravity-fed production at Quintessa. The hallmark is power restrained by minerality—dark fruit and slate singing together on the finish, built for patience.
Faust emerged from the vision of Chilean vintner Agustin Huneeus and his wife Valeria, who recognized in Coombsville—a corner of Napa deemed too cold by conventional wisdom—the terroir for elegant Cabernet Sauvignon. Staking a claim in 1998 on the former Lewis Dairy Farm, they brought first fruit in 2002, pioneering what would become Napa's coolest AVA.
AllocationVineyard acreage varies slightly in sources (110–130 acres cited; used 52 hectares as conservative mid-range conversion). Founded 1998 (land purchase)/2002 (first vintage release)—used 2002 per standard practice. Coombsville site certified organic in 2021, not full operation. Production volume estimated at 50,000 cases per 2021 vintage reporting. Direct US importer not identified in public channels; wines distributed through Huneeus Vintners network and retail. No UK or Japan-specific importers verified. Succession transition: son Agustin Francisco resigned 2019; current status reflects family control under original founders.
