Hofkellerei des Fürsten von Liechtenstein
Liechtenstein
Philosophy
Hand-cultivated vineyard sites across the Alpine Rhine Valley and Weinviertel produce wines of precise structure and mineral expression. The estate favors biologically and regeneratively farmed parcels, employing consultant Stéphane Derenoncourt in Liechtenstein and oenologist Josef Stumvoll in Austria to craft wines defined by fresh, distinctive character—modern in technique yet respectful of tradition, with gentle processing and careful maturation in centuries-old barrel cellars.
Reputation
In the heart of the Rhine Valley, where southwest-facing slopes meet the warm föhn wind and slate-rich limestone soils, the Princely Family of Liechtenstein has maintained unbroken viticultural tradition since 1436. When Prince Hans Adam I acquired the County of Vaduz in 1712, he secured the vineyard Herawingert—four contiguous hectares now recognized as among the finest single-vineyard sites of the Rhine Valley—and established the foundation of what remains Europe's most intimate court cellar.
