Malmont

France
High-elevation terraced vineyard yields naturally restrained alcohol (13–13.5%), with hand-sorted destemmed fruit, spontaneous fermentation, and extended fine-lees aging. The wines express mineral tension and freshness unusual for the warm Southern Rhône, balanced between dark fruit depth and aromatic lift.
Malmont emerged from family terrain above Séguret when Nicolas Haeni, educated in winemaking at his father's Domaine de Cabasse, chose to retain and rehabilitate a steep, rock-strewn hillside left wild by his ancestors. Beginning terracing in 2005 with the United Nations Priorat project model, Haeni transformed 11 hectares of bramble and poor soil into a precision vineyard, releasing his first vintage in 2013.
AllocationData sparse on UK/Japan-specific importers; sources suggest seeking distribution in those markets but no confirmed importer found. Ansonia Wines Massachusetts is direct importer (operates as both distributor and retailer). Bonhomie Wine Imports (NJ-based) is confirmed US importer via multiple retailer sites. Production volume: Bonhomie states 1,250 cases annually (approx. 7,500 bottles); vineyard 5 ha per certified source (not the initial 11 ha: per KL Wines and other sources, Haeni retained Séguret section post-2012 family sale). Organic certification documented for 2022. First vintage 2013 confirmed across independent sources. Winemaking signature reflects bottle-based tasting notes from Bonhomie and Ansonia detailed technical specs. No biodynamic certification found despite biodynamic mixtures mentioned in practice. Succession is stable family ownership, no transition flag. | Importer overflow captured (importer_other): 'Ansonia Wines (Massachusetts, direct importer)'
