Margherita Otto

Piedmont, Italy
Co-fermented parcels from multiple communes in the traditional assemblaggio method. Native yeasts, cappello sommerso maceration for approximately 45 days, aging in large Slovenian and French oak botti for 32-34 months. Mineral-driven wines of elegant structure and precise focus, displaying rose-petal perfume and vineyard complexity across terroirs.
Margherita Otto, founded in 2015 by American-turned-Piedmontese winemaker Alan Manley, represents the late realization of a lifelong passion for Barolo developed across decades of study and harvest work in the Langhe. Established in Monforte d'Alba with meticulously assembled vineyard parcels, the house honors his Swiss grandparents' wine-loving heritage through a singularly traditional interpretation of multi-commune Barolo.
AllocationFarming practice marked as 'organic_practicing' based on Leon & Son retailer listings showing 'Organic' farming practices. Producer's own website does not claim formal organic certification—no certifications found in searches. Total vineyard holdings calculated from documented parcels: Pernanno (0.25ha, used 2012-2019), Serralunga (0.2ha, from 2014), Monforte Ginestra (0.48ha, from 2015), Vignane (1.6ha, from 2018), Coste di Rose (1.1ha, from 2020) = 3.63ha. Production volume estimated as ~3000 bottles per vintage (2015 vintage: 2608 bottles + 490 magnums; described as 'tiny' production). US importers confirmed: Polaner Selections and The Rare Wine Co. UK importer: Keeling Andrew. All vineyards in Barolo communes (Monforte d'Alba, Castiglione Falletto, Serralunga d'Alba, Barolo). Founded 2015 with first commercial release May 2019 (2015 vintage). | Importer overflow captured (importer_other): 'OC Beverage AS / Tinden Vin (Norway)'
