Reichsgraf von Kesselstatt
Mosel, Germany
Philosophy
Spontaneous fermentation in stainless steel preserves the terroir's mineral profile; Grosse Gewächse rest in traditional oak casks with extended ageing on fine lees for complexity. Artisanal bottling emphasizes the delicate, flinty character of slate-derived Rieslings.
Reputation
Since 1349, when the von Kesselstatt dynasty first documented a vineyard purchase in the region, the estate has been synonymous with Mosel Riesling. The four former Maximiner monasteries—Josephshof in Graach, Domklausenhof in Piesport, Abteihof in Oberemmel, and St. Irminenhof in Kasel—remain the foundation of holdings across all three valleys.
