d'Arenberg

Australia
Basket pressing of all fruit—both reds and whites—with foot treading of red ferments, leaving wines unfiltered and unfined to preserve varietal character and minerality. Gentle, traditional methods reveal terroir expression across seventy cuvées from over thirty varieties.
Founded in 1912 by Joseph Osborn, who purchased vineyard land in McLaren Vale and later named the estate after his mother, Frances Helena d'Arenberg, this South Australian house has remained in family stewardship across four generations. The winery was established as a formal cellar in 1927 and launched its now-iconic red-striped label in 1959 under the visionary d'Arry Osborn.
Allocationd'Arry Osborn (Francis d'Arenberg Osborn) passed away December 2022, age 95; Chester remains sole proprietor and chief winemaker. Production volume estimated at 200,000 bottles annually based on 60+ wines across 200 hectares—order of magnitude proxy only. NASAA certification confirmed 2016 onward for all estate and leased vineyards; Sustainable Winegrowing Australia also certified. UK importer Enotria and Coe verified via wine trade directory. US importer Old Bridge Cellars Imports confirmed via producer website distributor links. Japanese importer Village Cellars also confirmed. Winery language is English only on website and labels. No parent company; fully family-owned.
