Pieropan is the reference producer for serious Soave Classico — the estate that proved the appellation could produce great white wine. Strong BC distribution.
Practice
Leonildo Pieropan was the person most responsible for rescuing Soave Classico from mediocrity. In the 1970s, Soave had become a byword for cheap, industrial white wine. Pieropan demonstrated that old-vine Garganega from the volcanic basalt-limestone soils of the Classico zone could produce wines of genuine complexity and longevity. Their single-vineyard Calvarino (from 30+ year old vines) and La Rocca are benchmarks.
