The reputation — the story that sells at the table

Reference producer for Rheingau GG — more internationally visible than most Rheingau estates. Available through specialist importers in North America.

Practice
The Rheingau's most internationally visible estate — Georg Breuer (d. 2004) pioneered the Erstes Gewächs (First Growth) classification for the Rheingau, modelling it on Burgundy. Theresa Breuer continues a programme focused on the family's Grosses Gewächs from Berg Schlossberg, Berg Roseneck, and Berg Rottland — three contiguous south-facing Rüdesheim vineyards that Breuer argues are the Rheingau's answer to the Mosel's greatest sites. The style is drier and more textural than Mosel — Rheingau weight with Alsatian breadth.
