The southern Pfalz reference estate — Hansjörg Rebholz farms 20 hectares in Siebeldingen, producing both exceptional Riesling and Germany's most serious Spätburgunder (Pinot Noir). The Im Sonnenschein GG and Birkweiler Kastanienbusch GG represent the southern Pfalz's distinctive sandstone-and-slate terroir. Rebholz is also Germany's finest argument that Spätburgunder can challenge Burgundy — the Kastanienbusch Spätburgunder GG is regularly cited alongside Burgundy Premier Cru in blind tastings.
