Woodford Reserve Distillery
Philosophy
Woodford Reserve (est. 1996 on historic Labrot & Graham site, c.1812) is the most craft-focused of Brown-Forman's bourbon portfolio — triple-distilled in copper pot stills (unique in bourbon) rather than the standard column still method. The mash bill (72% corn, 18% rye, 10% malt) produces a higher-rye spice profile, and the triple distillation adds smoothness without lightness. Maturation in a limestone cellar creates slow, consistent aging.
Reputation
Woodford Reserve Double Oaked is the distillery's most celebrated expression: second maturation in heavily toasted, lightly charred new barrels adds vanilla, chocolate, and caramel intensity. The Official Bourbon of the Kentucky Derby since 1999.
