Tequila Don Julio

Tequila Don Julio (est. 1942 by Don Julio González) was the first luxury tequila — created in a shorter, wider bottle so the dinner table conversation could continue over the label. Don Julio González pioneered the concept of highland Jalisco agave (Los Altos region, 2,000m elevation) producing smaller, denser, fruitier piñas than lowland agave — the defining characteristic of the Don Julio style. Now owned by Diageo; remains the world's top-selling premium tequila.

Don Julio 1942 is the world's most recognisable premium tequila — the bottle shape (commemorating the founding year) appears at celebrity events globally. Don Julio Blanco is the benchmark for highland Jalisco tequila.
