Philosophy
Château Le Pin is the world's most expensive wine by production size per bottle — just 700 cases per vintage from 2 hectares of pure Pomerol clay, producing Merlot of extraordinary concentration, texture, and hedonism. Jacques Thienpont purchased the almost-forgotten estate in 1979; by the early 1980s Le Pin had become a phenomenon. The wine's extraordinary density, silky tannin, and almost Burgundian (rather than Bordeaux) aromatic profile make it unique among the world's great wines. Allocations are virtually unobtainable; secondary market prices rival or exceed Pétrus.
Reputation
Le Pin is among the world's most sought-after wines — a micro-production Pomerol of legendary concentration and rarity. Secondary market prices exceed $2,000 per bottle for top vintages. A true unicorn wine.
