Philosophy
Thierry Allemand is Cornas's most revered producer — holding just 3 hectares of ancient terraced Syrah vines on Cornas's granite hillsides. His two wines, Chaillot (younger vines, 30-50 years) and Reynard (older vines, 60-80+ years), are among the Northern Rhône's most sought-after wines. Allemand farms biodynamically and vinifies with total respect for the terroir: indigenous yeasts, no fining or filtration, minimal sulphur. His old-vine Reynard represents what Cornas achieved before mechanisation — intense, pure, wild Syrah from vines that pre-date the modern appellation.
Reputation
Thierry Allemand is considered by Wine Advocate (Neal Martin and Eric Asimov), Jancis Robinson, and Allen Meadows to be among the Northern Rhône's greatest producers — his Reynard consistently scoring 95-100 points and becoming one of wine's most sought-after and allocated releases. Allocations are tightly held by top restaurants worldwide. The wines are considered cult icons of natural fine wine production.
