The Uitvlugt Estate represents one of Guyana's most historically significant rum distilleries, with wooden Coffey (continuous) stills and traditional pot stills that produce distillates of extraordinary complexity now consolidated under Demerara Distillers Limited. The Uitvlugt marque produces lighter, more aromatic Demerara rums compared to the heavy, pot-still Port Mourant style, and is a key component of many premium Demerara blends. The estate's heritage dates to the colonial plantation era, and its traditional wooden stills are now among the oldest functioning distillation equipment in the world.
