Didier Belondrade's Rueda estate — the French winemaker who arrived in 1994 and transformed critical perception of Verdejo with obsessive focus on centenarian-vine Rueda from the estate's sandy-limestone soils. The flagship Belondrade y Lurton Rueda (aged in French oak) is considered Spain's finest Verdejo and one of the country's most internationally celebrated white wines — rivaling the finest Rías Baixas Albariño for Spain's premier white wine status.
