Mark Reynier re-opened Bruichladdich in 2001 on Islay (Scotch); now owned by Rémy Cointreau. Port Charlotte is their heavily-peated expression at 40+ PPM. Used as a benchmark for PNW peated spirit comparison.

Port Charlotte is the standard benchmark for PNW sommeliers introducing guests to peated Scotch; more approachable than Ardbeg or Laphroaig while maintaining genuine peat character.
