One of the Finger Lakes' founding fine wine estates, established in 1979 by Hermann Wiemer — a German-trained winemaker who recognised the region's Riesling potential. The estate on Seneca Lake's western shore produces benchmark Rieslings from estate vineyards, including the HJW Vineyard and Josef Vineyard designated wines. Now continued by Fred Merwarth and Oskar Bynke, Wiemer remains the reference point for Finger Lakes Riesling at all quality levels.
