Reputation
The guardian of Gaillac's ancient viticultural heritage. Robert Plageoles and now his son Bernard have dedicated their estate to preserving and showcasing indigenous varieties that would otherwise have disappeared — Ondenc, Verdanel, Mauzac Roux, and others found nowhere else in France. Their wines are idiosyncratic, authentic, and impossible to categorise within the mainstream fine wine world. Vin d'Autan (Ondenc botrytis dessert wine) is considered one of France's great forgotten treasures.
