The reputation — the story that sells at the table

The most internationally celebrated Uruguayan wine estate, established by entrepreneur Alejandro Bulgheroni on a vast property in Maldonado department near the Atlantic coast. Bodega Garzón produces Tannat and Albariño from ancient, windswept soils with an emphasis on freshness and elegance rather than the heavy extraction common in earlier Uruguayan wines. Their Single Vineyard Tannat has been rated among South America's finest wines, and the estate's biodynamic commitment sets a standard for Uruguayan winemaking.

Practice
On wind-swept granite hillsides 11 miles from the Atlantic, Alejandro Bulgheroni and his wife Bettina transformed a vast coastal estate into the emblematic modern winery of Uruguay's emerging Maldonado terroir. Begun in earnest in 2009 under the counsel of legendary consultant winemaker Alberto Antonini, Bodega Garzón represents an unprecedented investment in New World precision viticulture.
