The pioneer of old-vine Maule Carignan — Derek Mossman Knapp and Pilar Miranda's small-batch winery began in a Constitución garage in 2007, purchasing fruit from ancient dry-farmed Carignan vineyards on granite soils. Their Truquilemu (100-year-old Carignan) and Lot series wines brought international attention to Maule's forgotten heritage vines, establishing the region as a natural wine destination and inspiring a wave of producers to seek out pre-industrial Chilean vineyards.
