Tsiakkas Commandaria Pelendri Cyprus

Commandaria, Cyprus
A village-specific Commandaria from Pelendri in the Troodos Mountains — predominantly Mavro (the ancient Cypriot red variety) with some Xynisteri. Darker and more tannic than Xynisteri-dominant Commandaria, with dried black cherry, prune, dark chocolate, carob, and a more structured finish. Sun-dried and slowly fermented, aged in old barrels. The most characterful small-producer Commandaria available — a connection to ancient Cyprus.
complement
The wine's dried fruit sweetness and aromatic complexity bridge to honey-soaked baklava. Rose water echoes its floral note while pistachios add texture.
classic dessert
complement
Cypriot slow-roasted lamb with sweet-spiced aromatics — the wine's dried fruit and warm spice notes mirror the dish's cinnamon and apricot while Mavro's tannins support the lamb's richness.
