About this product
From the Dogtown Vineyard — ancient head-trained Zinfandel vines planted in 1905 on the sandy Delta soils of southern Lodi. The wine shows what century-old Zinfandel achieves on deep sand: incredible concentration without heaviness, black cherry, bramble, dried herbs, coffee, vanilla spice, and an earthy complexity rarely found in Californian wine. Despite the 16%+ alcohol typical of old-vine Lodi, the wine's fresh acidity from the Delta breeze gives genuine balance and aging potential.

American BBQ and Zinfandel is one of California's great food and wine pairings — the wine's jammy fruit and spice complement the smoky, sweet brisket while its freshness cuts through the fat.

Zinfandel — descended from Southern Italian Primitivo — with Italian-American pizza is a natural pairing. Spice echoes the wine's pepper, fennel bridges its anise notes, and tomato mirrors its acidity.

Old-vine Zinfandel's depth and herbaceous notes are ideal for lamb. Rosemary echoes its dried herb character while chimichurri adds freshness that the wine's acidity can bridge.
