Vylyan Mandolás Cabernet Franc Villány

Villány, Hungary
A single-vineyard Cabernet Franc from the Mandolás site on pure limestone soils — one of Villány's most compelling single-parcel expressions. The wine shows the Loire-meets-Bordeaux character that Villány's finest Cabernet Franc achieves: green pepper, violet, red cherry, graphite, pencil lead, and a limestone minerality that gives the wine extraordinary freshness despite the southern Hungarian warmth. Organic, minimal intervention, aged in used French oak.
complement
Cabernet Franc's affinity for duck is consistent across terroirs — Villány's limestone expression brings additional freshness to this classic combination. Lentils provide earthy grounding while Dijon bridges the wine's sharp mineral edge.

complement
The most Hungarian of pairings — the national stuffed pepper dish with the country's most important wine variety. The wine's red fruit and mineral freshness complement the tomato sauce while its structure supports the meat filling.

Limestone Cabernet Franc with lamb — a Loire-Villány parallel. The wine's violet and red cherry bridge to lamb's character while its limestone mineral freshness prevents heaviness.

The wine's pencil shaving mineral and red cherry notes bridge to soft-rind cheese. Walnut echoes its graphite complexity while fig preserve mirrors its dark fruit.
