Rousseau Chambertin Grand Cru
Gevrey-Chambertin, France
About this product
Rousseau's 2.15-hectare parcel in the Chambertin Grand Cru — the jewel of Gevrey-Chambertin. The wine is the definition of powerful Gevrey Pinot Noir: dark fruit, iron, earth, and structure that demands 15–25 years of cellaring. Unlike DRC (which is ethereal), Chambertin from Rousseau is imposing — the 'king' in full regal power. Partial whole-cluster fermentation adds aromatic lift. Around 9,000 bottles per year. BC importer: Lifford Wine Agency [NEEDS VERIFICATION].

The power of Chambertin — iron, dark fruit, earth — demands equally assertive food. Wild boar's gamey richness and the truffle's earthiness mirror the Grand Cru's tertiary complexity. Classic Burgundian alignment.

Duck confit's rendered fat and Puy lentils' earthy minerality create a foil for structured Gevrey Pinot Noir. The thyme jus provides herbal lift that echoes the wine's secondary aromatics.
