Wuyi Xingcun Zhengyan Da Hong Pao Rock Oolong

Da Hong Pao (大红袍, Big Red Robe) is the most celebrated of the Wuyi rock oolongs (yancha) and one of the most storied teas in Chinese history. The name refers to the legend of a Ming dynasty scholar cured of illness by tea from three ancient bushes on Jiulongke cliff — those original bushes still exist and are now protected state property. Wuyi Xingcun's Zhengyan (正岩, "true rock") production uses leaves grown in the actual Wuyi rock zone (45km²), where mineral-rich volcanic soil and afternoon mist produce the characteristic "yan yun" (rock rhyme) — a lasting mineral sweetness after swallowing.
