Emidio Pepe Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC

Montepulciano d'Abruzzo DOC, Italy
One of Italy's great natural wine legends — produced without pumps, chemicals, or filtration from old-vine Montepulciano on the clay-limestone Torano Nuovo hillsides. The wine ages in glass-lined concrete vats for years before hand-disgorging and re-bottling. Young vintages show dense dark cherry, violet, and iron mineral; older vintages develop extraordinary tertiary complexity of leather, tobacco, dried rose, and forest floor that can last 30–40 years.
