Single-vineyard Gewürztraminer from Elena Walch's Kastelaz estate in Tramin (Termeno), the village that gave Gewürztraminer its name. The Kastelaz site's unique volcanic porphyry soils and south-facing alpine exposure produce Gewürztraminer of extraordinary aromatic intensity and mineral complexity. While Alsatian and German versions are better known, the Kastelaz represents the variety in its ancestral home — lychee, rose petal, ginger, and white pepper with a savoury, almost smoky mineral finish quite different from richer international interpretations.
